Jet Lagged

We all arrived in Paris as scheduled, all tired and short tempered.  Melissa and I arrived first and in the best shape, having flown business class;  but I can tell you that those reclining seats are still tough to sleep on. Sam and Matt arrived next followed by Margaret and Sarah.  Sarah had a cold and didn’t feel well.  We met up in the Luxembourg Gardens, got to our apartment and all took a good nap.

Resuscitated, and feeling ready to explore the city, we walked through the Gardens and north to the Seine. We had stopped at a patisserie to buy quiches and water, and ate them near Notre Dame Cathedral. It was after 8:00 pm, so no tours today. After the walk back to our apartment we went out for dinner at a restaurant called “Mustache” which was right around the corner. Having our first real meal in 2 days made everyone happy and we headed home to bed.

Launch from Toronto

We’re leaving from Toronto on 3 separate flights. Final destination is Paris, with everyone due in to Charles DeGaul Airport by early afternoon June 29. Our drive to the Toronto airport was easy, and security at both the border and the airport took little time. I highly recommend a Nexus card for you frequent travelers.  Melissa and I leave first, at 5:30, followed by Matt and Sam at 9:30, then Margaret and Sarah near midnight(so a long wait at the airport for them).  Bon voyage!

Here we go!

Several years ago at a 4th of July party I took a photograph of several family members as we walked along the shore of the Niagara River.  By coincidence or design the picture had the look of one of those iconic rock album covers from the 60’s or 70’s, and we called it the Wormer Family Band photo.  Since then, in many places we have taken similar photos to add to our collection of family band album covers.  Now as we set off on our great adventure in France and Italy, we invite you to join us on our Wormer Family Band World Tour 2015.  (t-shirts will be available later in the tour).

Here's the original family band photo, with Matt striking a Bono-like pose.
